CITTADINANZA against discrimination
Mental illness is a difficult subject to be faced, explained and experienced. People all over the world have often the wrong idea that mentally ill people are dangerous, incurable and irrevocably and unalterably sick. It happens in high income countries like Italy, where wealth is widespread and education level is averagely high, but it happens even more in low income countries, where mental disorders have a high incidence and are considered expressions of evil spirits and sources of evil influence and where resources for mental health are far more scarce and inadequate.

Actually, recovery is possible for many of them, for others there exist treatments which would allow them to live dignified and integrated lives.

Thus Cittadinanza organizes and promotes campaigns, initiatives and events in order:
• to raise public awareness on mental illness-related issues, in particular when associated with situations of hardship and poverty;
• to promote the integration of mentally disabled people into their communities and the society as a whole.

If you want to receive more information concerning mental health and Cittadinanza’s activities, please contact us.
If there is an event, a public or private initiative in your school, workplace, club or any other meeting area where you think Cittadinanza should be represented, please contact us. We will be happy to participate and share our commitment and our experience.

By raising awareness in your family and amongst your friends,
by challenging prejudice against mental illness,
you can give an important contribution to make a real difference!
